All our staff are trained in Safeguarding Children and hold current Paediatric first aid certificates as well as certificates in food hygiene.. 


Judy is our Lead Manager with a BA (hons) Degree specific to working with children in the Early Years environment , Advanced Diploma in Childcare and Education, CACHE Level 3 diploma in pre-school practice and more than fifteen years experience of working with the under fives. She also has taken courses in Creative Storytelling, phonics and writing for boys. Judy has been with us for many years and knows how to enhance the children's musical and creative abilities with her own unique and calm style of teaching. Her gift is her ability to engage children with her stories and to come up with a different twist every time.  She is also fully qualified in Paediatric first aid and holds a level 2 food hygiene/food safety qulification.  Judy is a designated person for safeguarding children.  She is passionate about children's rights in particular children's participation in all aspects of their world.  Judy is trained to level thee ELKLAN Speech and Language Development for the under threes .  She has completed a course on "communication friendly Spaces" delivered by Elizabeth Jarmen (Nov 2014).     Recent training includes university degree level courses on Childhood nutrition & obesity and the importance of sleep and limiting "screen time" activities for small children (January 2017).    Judy also enjoys counting and singing to the children in French and German.



Another member of our long standing team Roz is Deputy Manager and Inclusion Manager and has a Level 3 Diploma in Pre-School Practice. Her skills encourage the children 's creative learning through making/sticking and tactile play. She is great at letting the children come up with their own ideas and then helping them to carry out the more difficult problems themselves.   Roz also holds a food hygiene certificate. Ros is our pre-school's Special educational Needs Coordinator  and works closely with children and their parents when they need extra support and to assist in this she attends regular training sessions and multi-agency meetings. Paediatric first aid trained.  Ros is also a Designated person for safeguarding children.  Ros also works hard to work with other professionals to support our children who need a little extra help.  She is very patient and often goes the extra mile in order to help every child do the very best they can.


Avril is our Health & Safety Manager and a First Aider. Avril has worked at the Pre-school for more than 30 years and brings her own special creativity and ideas to help the children grow in confidence. She has a very special recipe for the soft dough sessions that the children love. Paediatric first aid trained.  Avril holds a PPA foundation Diploma.     Avril loves to introduce children to the natural world around us by looking at birds, leaves and bugs in the garden as well as using books to foster and support children's interests.  She is also a great fan of "messy play".   Avril has a brilliant way of encouraging children to engage with activities by using "Max" our persona puppet and "scribble squirrel" who helps them to develop their writing skills.

Maria has been with us since the Spring of 2012 and also is a play worker at the after school club at one of the local schools.   Maria's own children attended our pre-school so she is committed to our ethos of learning through play.   Maria has undertaken safeguarding training and paediatric first aid course.  Maria has a wonderful empathy with the smaller children and is especially attuned to those for who English is an additional language.    Maria holds Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF) England.  Maria is currently working in her own time to learn how to use Makaton signing she also speaks Tagalog and Spanish.  recently Maria has got very involved in helping to support children's mental and emotional well being.    Maria also enjoys designing new creative activities for children.

Lorraine had been a pre-school volunteer for many years and participated actively on the committee.   In April 2016 she joined us as a staff member.   Lorraine has attended safeguarding training and completed food hygiene course and one on food allergens.   Lorraine is very creative and always has a ready smile for the children.   She enjoys sharing books in the book corner with children and holds a level 2 Early Years Qualification .   Her current favourite activity is making "flubber" with the children.   She also likes playing games with the children and has a broad repertoire of songs and nursery rhymes.    Lorraine is very patient and has a brilliant understanding of how to support children who have difficulties in their speech.   

Elesa joined us in september 2016.    Elesa had previously been working in a local school supporting a child with additional learning needs.    Elesa has a degree .  She has completed her safeguarding, food hygiene and paediatric first aid courses.   Elesa uses lots of imaginative ways to engage with children, she enjoys our dressing up box and the children thoroughly enjoy playing with her and love her bubbles!  Elesa has recently done some courses on playing with "dough" and working with two year olds.  She is now studying for her level three qualification.    Elesa also helps to support Ros in her role as SENCO.   Recently Elesa has introduced the children to new activities such as playing the trumpet!


Ruth has joined us recently and like many of us has progressed from parent, through committee to staff member.   She has a great deal of fun with the children and likes to make them laugh.   Ruth completed her induction, safeguarding training & Paediatric first aid and is now studying for her level 3.     Ruth has a great sense of humour and likes to make the children laugh.   Ruth also has some key skills in working with small children such as knowing the names of all the paw patrol team.     Ruth is great at working with the two year olds and helping them to build bonds by playing games like hide & seek and also the tickle/snoring game.

Michelle Roberts

Michelle is our newest staff member and is level 2 NVQ qualified .   She has had experience of working in schools and supporting teachers as well as working in the Rainbow unit aiding children with Autism to become ready for mainstream school. Michelle has The Autism Awareness Diploma and is also trained in the Picture Exchange Communication Scheme.   Michelle has a lovely gentle manner and the children enjoy her stories as well as making her cups of tea in the home corner.   Michelle has a lovely gentle tone of voice which is so important for the little ones and she always has a smile on her face.
